Program I: This Moment, Here

Dance NOW! kicked off its 21st Season of Dance with a Live-streamed concert from the historic North Beach Bandshell. The evening featured the world premiere of This Moment, Here, with the company’s nine world-class contemporary dancers. This Moment, Here, the newest collaboration from Dance NOW! Directors Hannah Baumgarten and Diego Salterini is a commentary on the zeitgeist in Corona times, told through the language of dance. The confinement, isolation, rage, longing, confrontation, disbelief, optimism and camaraderie of our shared experiences during this turbulent behemoth moment, will be translated into a one-act ballet, inspired by personal stories. DNM Company dancers appear in “pods” that reflect the real-life situations used in maintaining social distancing and safety in the creation, rehearsal and performance of this timely and innovative work.
