Miami Artistic Director Hannah Baumgarten reimagines Miss Havisham, the infamous character from Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations providing a compassionate backstory to this much-hated literary villain who was never even afforded a first name. Conceived from a female perspective, with the stunning backdrop of the Ancient Spanish Monastery to help tell the story, audiences will roam through the Western Hemisphere’s oldest building for this site-specific, interactive dance theater piece, accompanied by the sounds of the South Beach Chamber Ensemble with music from Bartok to Adele.
